Shaping Regan's Future
Galesburg is proud of it's many historical roots, including being the home for a time of the 40th president of the United States.

Ronald Reagan would have turned 100 Sunday and the Galesburg Welcome Center held a birthday party of sorts to commemorate the occasion.

Local historian Tom Wilson says Reagan often remembered Galesburg and the time spent here.

"His mother would walk Neal, his brother, and him and they would go to the depot; they always wanted to go to the depot, 'cause the troop trains were coming through and I think one of the neat things is his mother would keep some coins to give to the two boys, so that they could go up to the troop trains when the fellas were hanging out of the windows heading off to war and give them a coin."

Nancy Reagan has roots in Galesburg as well, as her adopted father was born and raised in Galesburg and she spent childhood summers here.

It is also thought Nancy's father Dr. Loyal Davis was very influential in Reagan's political career.
