Council To Consider Big Ticket Items Tonight
Galesburg city council members are scheduled to consider a number of measures dealing with three planned rail grade separations in Galesburg tonight.

Under the consent agenda, council members will be asked to approve appropriations for the acquisitions of three properties for the West Main Street overpass.

Agreements could not be made with owners of three properties, so eminent domain proceedings were initiated with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A agreement was, however, settled with the owner of 555 West Main Street in the amount of 725-thousand dollars before the eminent domain proceedings began.

The two other properties, 513 and 566 West Main Street, will receive just compensation for the full appraised value of the proprieties, 198-thousand and 75-thousand dollars respectively.

Council members will also consider a 1-point-2 million dollar preliminary engineering agreement with Hanson Professional Services for the East Main Street underpass.

All this comes at the same time new city manager Todd Thompson attends his first council meeting after being sworn in last week.

The city council meeting begins at 6:30 in city council chambers.
