Opinions Fly Over Congressional District Map
(IRN)-An Illinois congressman believes there is a need for another Hispanic congressional district when district maps are redrawn.

U.S. Representative Peter Roskam (R-Wheaton) says with the recent data from the Census, another Hispanic congressional district makes sense. How it will come to fruition, Roskam is unclear on. The existing district with the greatest Hispanic population is criticized for the extent to which it is contorted.

Democrats in Springfield will be the ones creating the new maps. Asked how Republicans would ensure a fair map making process, Roskam says the chatter he hears from other Republicans is to prepare for a legal battle.

Meanwhile, Roskam acknowledges that with Democrats in control of the process, it will likely be a Republican who loses his or her seat in the U.S. House. Illinois will lose a seat next election, going from 19 U.S. House seats to 18.
