Karlin Shoveling His Way Down the Campaign Trail
Local attorney Jeremy Karlin says city alderman need to make more of an effort to reach constituents.

Karlin, who's running for alderman in the seventh ward, plans to do just that tomorrow(Tuesday).

He tells WGIL his plan is to shovel his way to residents to get out his message and hear their ideas.

"Go from door to door in that neighborhood and if need be, shovel our way through un shoveled front walks and sidewalks to get to the front door and meet the residents. It's a metaphor for the effort that aldermen need to take to go speak to all the individuals in their community. It's not enough to just to wait for the phone to ring, or read emails that come in or even scan the comments on galesburg.com."

Karlin says one of the problems he sees in Galesburg is population decline and the city needs to work on drawing more families and small businesses to Galesburg by improving the quality of life.

He faces Michael Hagerty in the April election. Current seventh ward Alderman Mike Lummis is not running for re-election.
