State Senator Touting Entrepreneurship in West Central Illinois
A Peoria Republican says entrepreneurship is the foundation for what drives America.

State Senator Darin LaHood attended a press conference Tuesday morning at Carl Sandburg College proclaiming next week 'National Entrepreneurship Week.'

LaHood says small businesses and entrepreneurs need to be provided the resources to evolve into prospering entities.

"The economic times we're in right now, when we think about how in debt government is, we're only going to grow this economy with private sector growth," LaHood said. "And that's really what we're talking about here, starting companies, giving them all the tools they need to grow and prosper to grow this economy."

"We're not going to do that with more government spending."

LaHood gave kudos to the Entrepreneurial Support Network of West-Central Illinois, who issued a proclamation to next week recognize the efforts and encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Galesburg's Economic Director Cesar Suarez is hosting workshops next Tuesday and Thursday nights at C-S-C. The first will be on global economic trends, and the second focuses on developing an innovative mind set.

Both start at 6:30pm at the Center for Manufacturing Excellence.
