Galesburg Man Pleads Guilty to Felony Sex Charges
A Galesburg man arrested last year for allegedly molesting young children has pleaded guilty to the crime.

32-year old Shawn Pedigo pleaded guilty in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, and to a count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.

In exchange, court records say most of 15 other similar charges in several cases have been dropped.

Pedigo was arrested in early May, after police say he allegedly took sexually explicit photos of a young girl showering at his home, using his cell phone. Police believe the young girl was a relative, and that other relatives under the age of 16 reported similar instances, most of which are believed to have occurred between 2003 and last year.

Pedigo allegedly sent some of the photos to 32-year old Nicholas Friend.

He remains charged with felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and similar misdemeanor charges.

Pedigo will be sentenced May second, and could receive as much as 60 years in prison. Friend will be in court March 5th for a pre-trial conference.
