Knox Recognizes Outstanding Career Achievements
The tradition of recognizing former students' career successes continued Friday night as Knox College honored five more individuals with the Alumni Achievement Award.

Norman Golar (Class of 02') took home the Young Alumni Achievement Award. The 31-year-old, celebrated for his contributions in higher education and writing, tells WGIL Knox will always be a "watermark on his page."

"The connection that I have with Knox, it just pours out," Golar said. "I don't know when it's going to happen, I can't control it. So that why I love the place, because it just permeates from me in all aspects of my life."

Mary Lu Aft is a 1960 Knox College graduate. She was recognized for her non-profit and volunteer management efforts.

Pegged by a Cincinnati newspaper in 1999 as Cincy's "Woman of the Year," she tells WGIL her latest honor is more thrilling.

"There I was involved in what was going on," she said. "Here, I'm separated by so many years of when I was a student and everything. And to be recognized, it means so much, it really does."

Peter Leibig (Class of 73', 2011 winner), James Solomon (Class of 74'), and Lynn Wright (Class of 63') rounded out the class.

Knox College has presented the Alumni Achievement Awards since 1938.
