Man Accused of Attempted Murder Pleads Not Guilty
The charges filed by the state in an attempted murder case in Knox County have now been replaced by charges from a grand jury.

It was learned during a hearing in the case of 46-year old Sterling Nicholson that a grand jury filed charges Friday accusing the Galesburg man of three-counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery, and one count of Aggravated Battery.

Nicholson pleaded not guilty Tuesday and asked for a trial by jury through Public Defender Jim Harrell.

Nicholson was originally arrested in late-January after police officers were originally called to a home in the 200 block of South Whitesboro Street.

The 41-year old victim whom we're choosing not to identify was discovered as having numerous facial injuries and bruises throughout her body.

She was later taken to a Peoria hospital, where it was learned she had skull fractures and bleeding on her brain.

Nicholson was scheduled to be back in court April second for a pre-trial hearing, with a trial as soon as April 16th.

He remains jailed on a half-million dollars bond.
