Former Cop Accused of Sex Crimes Makes Court Appearance
A retired Galesburg Police officer has made another appearance in court on charges accusing him of molesting family members.

76-year old Jerry Friend was to be in Knox County Circuit Court for a Preliminary Hearing and possible arraignment Tuesday, but the Judge assigned to hear the case, Dwayne Morrison, wasn't available.

All other judges in Knox County, including Judge James Stewart, have recused themselves citing potential conflicts of interest. But Stewart Tuesday agreed to accept Friend's waiver of a preliminary hearing.

He set an arraignment hearing in the case for March 13th.

Friend was arrested January 25th, for allegedly fondling a family member under the age of 18 in the summer of 2008, and for allegedly molesting that same family member two years later, along with another family member.

Special Prosecutor Lorinda Lamken still has a motion pending in the case that would allow family members who claim they, too, have been molested by Friend to testify at trial.

Friend is out of jail after posting bond.
