Sheley Case Returns to Court in Whiteside County Friday
MORRISON, Ill. (AP) -- A 32-year-old man accused of killing eight people in two states is due back in court in northwestern Illinois, where a judge could decide if cameras will be allowed to cover his next trial.

Nicholas Sheley is slated to go on trial March 5 in the death of 93-year-old Russell Reed of rural Sterling. Sheley also is charged with killing four Rock Falls residents and an Arkansas couple visiting Missouri. He's already serving a life sentence for killing a Galesburg man.

Sheley's upcoming trial is in Whiteside County, which is in the district the Illinois Supreme Court picked to experiment with cameras in courtrooms. Prosecutors, however, oppose cameras, saying they would make it harder to give Sheley a fair trial.

Cameras will be barred from Friday's pretrial hearing.
