Illinois Senator Says Gas Prices Need to be Investigated
Illinois' senior U.S. Senator says there's something he announces seemingly every year now.

Democrat Dick Durbin spoke at Monmouth College recently, and said the price of gas continues to be too high, and that there ought to be a federal investigation into it.

Durbin tells WGIL his thoughts on why things haven't changed much.

"How can these companies make so much money and be so unforgiving when it comes to our economy, our consumers, and our families, and it leads to nothing," Durbin said. "The oil companies have so much power over this market place, they will run these prices up (and) any excuse will do."

The Springfield resident says he thinks gas prices will eventually come down again, but then again, quote, "Who can tell?"

Durbin says he thinks the price of gas could get worse if conflicts in the Middle East continue to escalate.
