Person Hurt by Monmouth Police Squad Car
An investigation is continuing into a late Friday night accident involving a Monmouth Police officer and a pedestrian.

Monmouth Police say the accident occurred just before 11:30 Friday night in the area of the 600 block of South D Street. Police say a squad car struck a pedestrian in that area.

The pedestrian was taken to OSF Holy Family Medical Center for treatment of injuries, but it's not clear what that person's condition is, their age, or if they're male or female.

They do say that their department will be conducting an administrative investigation, while Illinois State Police will handle an investigation of the accident itself.

The unidentified Monmouth Police officer allegedly involved in the accident has been placed on administrative leave until the investigations are concluded.

They didn't say if that leave is paid or unpaid.
