Property Sales Before City Council Monday
The Galesburg City Council will once again go through a process Monday night that aldermen have criticized in the past as something the city shouldn't even be doing.

Aldermen Monday will consider bids on a number of city-owned properties. Some required a development plan, some didn't, and some the city recommends aldermen rejecting for not meeting bid specifications.

The biggest number of bids for properties comes from the owners of Saint Mary's Square, who announced last year plans to close the facility and move their clients into home-based living facilities. The owners want to purchase several tracts of land so they can build such properties -- part of a movement nationwide to move the developmentally-disabled into the newer settings.

The Galesburg City Council meets at 5:30 Monday evening for a closed session, then their regular meeting at 6:30, all in council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.

Galesburg-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Judy Guenseth will give a presentation at Monday night's meeting.
