New Face in Charge of Local Red Cross Chapter
The Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross has hired a new executive director to represent Knox, Warren, and Henderson Counties.

26-year-old Carissa Scott began working January 18th. A 2008 graduate of Monmouth College, she says she's extremely excited to be working for the Red Cross.

Scott previously worked in sales for ConAgra Foods in Wisconsin and Coca-Cola locally in Illinois. She tells WGIL this experience has prepared her for what's to come with the Red Cross.

"I was definately put in some trying situations sometimes," Scott said. "I was constantly dealing with the public, store owners, corporations. I have experience from those organizations with communicating to other businesses, and representing a company and an image."

"So I'll definately be able to use those skills I learned from doing that."

Scott says a priority for her in her new role is to reach out more to Warren and Henderson Counties. She says while disaster relief presence is there, other Red Cross services aren't.

Scott replaced Lisa Kugler, who served as executive director the previous four months.
