Man Killed in Saturday Night Car Crash
A Williamsfield man is dead following a car crash near Gilson Saturday night.

That's according to the Knox County Sheriffs Department. They say 72-year old Sammy Marksity was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 8:40 pm Saturday in the 900 block of Route 97 just outside Gilson.

Investigators say they don't yet know what caused the crash, but believe both Marksity and his wife Karen were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.

They do believe that the Marksity vehicle rolled over several times after it left the roadway.

Karen Marksity, deputies say, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria with injuries to her head, and a broken leg.

An investigation is continuing.
