Board of Health Approves Annual Report
The Knox County Board of Health met Thursday night to go through the usual business.

The board, however, did decide to pursue moving forward with the approval of their 2012 Annual Report.

The report will likely be sent out in late February or early March. The annual report will be presented to the County Board on February 27th.

Salaries were also on the docket. Administrator Heidi Britton says each year the board of health reviews the salaries.

"The adjustment of the schedule provides some assurance that the department entry-level salaries remain competitive, while at the same time assuring existing staff maintains a slight advantage over newly-hired employees," Britton said.

The board also heard about Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program funds - which are reportedly short, having only $70,000 available.

Funds are short because the Health Department saw its grant funding cut in half.

The Health Department designed and developed a list of treatments which would still receive priority, given the lack of funds.
