Looking Into Galesburg's Past
This Saturday the Orpheum Theatre is holding a very special presentation by WTVP-Public Media productions.

The documentary entitled "Boxcar People" was written and produced by Galesburg residents Will and Luz Schick.

Luz Schick tells the WGIL Evening News the people she and her husband met were able to give them just what they were looking for to make the documentary come alive.

"Their memories of growing up, their memories of their parents coming over at a very tumultuous time in Mexican history, it's a fascinating time in American history too, and we were very fortunate, the people that we interviewed were extremely gracious and generous and they had photographs and documents that we include in the documentary," says Schick.

Luz Schick says the families of the Boxcar People are very proud of their heritage and love to share their past with others.

Schick says that's what made producing the documentary interesting and fun.

The show is free, however due to limited seating, tickets are required.

If you're interested in tickets you can check out the WTVP website.

WTVP will also be airing the film on March 7th at 7:00 p.m. and again March 16th at 4:00 p.m.
