Weather Gives Galesburg a Surprise; Storm Thursday
Rain was fine, but things got dicey in Galesburg in a quick hurry Monday night. Right around the time most residents were heading home from work, lessened somewhat by the holiday, rain quickly turned to snow, leaving its mark in the area into the morning.

The National Weather Service hasn't received many storm totals, but says spotters in the Altona area reported two inches of snow falling there as of 7pm Monday.

That is being coupled with high wind gusts, which is causing some blowing and drifting of snow, and has caused power outages across the area.

There was over a hundred still without power earlier Monday in Galesburg, but the heaviest set of power outages came from the New Windsor area.

IDOT is also reporting scattered slippery spots on Interstate 74 and U-S 34, with the area between here and the Quad Cities reporting some of the worst conditions in the state right now.

But this may be nothing compared to Thursday. Some forecasters are calling for lots of snow while others are not. Right now, the National Weather Service says three to five inches of snow could fall especially from the afternoon-on during Thursday.
