Abingdon City Council In Planning Mode
After the President's Day holiday on Monday, the Abingdon City Council was back to work, but this week on Tuesday.

Aldermen had a short list of items to consider, but the list is taking more than one council meeting to consider.

At their last meeting, the Abingdon City Council discussed the profitability of a wheel tax sticker enforced by the City.

Mayor Roger Stegall tells WGIL that they found the opposite of what they thought they would.

"We're doing some more research on it, but it looks like that it is a viable program and it does make money for the city and we've gone back and checked about four years back but there's some more checking to be done."

As it currently stands, the police force in Abingdon is stepping up efforts to enforce the wheel tax stickers.

Also under discussion was the renovating of a restroom at Legion Park in Abingdon.

The current state of the restrooms is being looked into for possible renovation or new construction.
