School Board Talks Budget
The Knoxville School board met Tuesday night for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

There wasn't too much on the agenda but one topic got heavy conversation.

Superintendent Steven Wilder told the board he'd gone over the budget and thinks he found ways to cut cost.

Wilder tells WGIL he looked at how to reduce personnel since that is the biggest part of the budget but wanted to make sure extra curricular activities do not suffer from cuts.

"I do think there are a couple positions that we can consider and it's very important that, and I stressed this to the board last night. I believe these are positions that we can reduce without having to eliminate any programs. So in other words just kind of modify how the programs are offered but not drop anything."

Wilder said some of the programs that might see changes are industrial arts, art and music.

He says the other areas they looked at were freezes in equipment and supply, health insurance and utility cost.

Wilder says with the state continuing to cut aid to the school they're trying to do everything they can to get ahead of the game.
