Congresswoman Talks Looming Across the Board Cuts
"It's budget insanity"

That's how Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is describing the automatic across the board spending cuts that are slated to go into effect March first.

Bustos held an afternoon conference call with reporters Thursday to discuss the pending sequestration and it's effect on jobs and the economy.

She told those in attendance quote "in my mind what will happen tomorrow, represents everything that is wrong with Washington."

Bustos says she called on House Speaker John Boehner to keep the House in session until deal is reached.

However, Bustos says Speaker Boehner had other plans.

"Here we are ready to go home back to our districts again tomorrow and instead of focusing on this," says Bustos. "We need to take a laser focus on this and we're not doing that I think this is inexcusable that we would be sent home without a plan in place to stop the sequester."

Bustos says at this point across the board spending cuts will kick in.

She says this will cause more of a trickle down effect--with some cuts taking longer to affect those involved.

Some of the Furloughs that Congress has been talking about could take thirty to forty-five days before going into effect due to their contracts.
