TIF Committee Continues to Make Progress
The Knoxville City Council's TIF committee hasn't gotten any request large enough for them to take on.

In fact the only TIF request the cities gotten this year was for a sign at the Mobil station--but because the cost of the project falls under ten-thousand dollars it can go straight to the City Council.

There was talk at Monday night's meeting to let the TIF committee handle the sign project but it was decided to let it go in front of the Council.

Council Member Dennis Maurer asked the committee for any impute regarding language they'd like to see on the TIF application.

"I already have two suggestions from from Mr. McGovern about on the cover letter in the commercial building repairs paragraph, he'd like to see that line that says this program is not designed for normal building maintenance. The part about being designed for normal building maintenance perhaps put in bold so people don't think about their every day to day types of repairs, that sort of thing. Because that's not really what it was meant for."

Maurer continued to tell the Council the committee has decided to add the state and federal stature regarding any potential grants so the public understands these are rules the committee has to follow because it's law.

There will also be a section added on what types of projects the committee will handle.
