Storms Cause Problems in Galesburg -- E-MAIL US YOUR STORM PHOTOS
Flooding rains and some gusty winds that even prompted some severe thunderstorm warnings at one point resulted in what otherwise was a lousy weekend across the area.

Stormy weather from literally Friday night all the way through Sunday afternoon made for a flood watch most of the weekend. The National Weather Service says that changed to a flood warning for Knox, Warren, and other Counties by Sunday afternoon.

Forecasters say nearly two-and-a-half inches of rain fell over the weekend in Galesburg, and farm fields in the Altona area were reported to have a lot of standing water, partially due to the ground not being completely thawed yet. Gusty winds throughout the day, and a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Knox County Sunday morning, resulted in some debris and power outages, and even downed power poles along Route 41 between Galesburg and Abingdon. Nearly a thousand people were without power at the height of the winds according to Ameren, but power was soon restored. A wind guss around two o'clock north of Abingdon was reported at 59 miles per hour.

The same line of storms produced tornadoes near Springfield and some damage there. Monday during the day is expected to be calm but warmer than normal, but more rain is forecast for Monday night and Tuesday.
