Ayers Speaks to U of I Students
A University of Illinois at Chicago professor who became a focus of the 2008 presidential campaign says he was mischaracterized by people who didn’t understand him.

UIC Professor and founder of the 1960s leftist Weathermen group Bill Ayers was a fixture of the 2008 campaign for his alleged close ties to then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Ayers, spending four days this week living and speaking to students at Allen Hall on the University of Illinois campus, says who he really is was distorted during the campaign.

"Sean Hannity made up an entire narrative that had nothing to do with me. He was making stuff up," Ayers said.

Hannity, the conservative talk show host, repeatedly called Ayers an "unrepentant terrorist." Ayers says he was never a terrorist.
