Health Department Hires Interim Administrator
The Knox County Board of Health has made their decision on who will become the interim Health Department Administrator. The board Thursday night unanimously approved the position to be filled by Knox County Health Department veteran Rhonda Peterson.

Peterson will be replacing current Knox County Health Department Administrator Greg Chance who will be leaving the position in early May in order to fill the same role with the Peoria City/County Health Department.

Peterson tells WGIL she is anxious to take over the position and knows she will work cooperatively with the Board of Health to get work done.

"I'm, of course, nervous about taking over this position," Peterson said. "The people here are excellent. All the directors know their divisions very well. I work with them well. I don't think there will be any problems that way."

Peterson said she has been with the Knox County Health Department since its inception in 1994. Prior to that, she worked in the Henderson County Health Department ,which actually covered Knox County before the area had a health department. She said she has also worked in oncology and in the intensive care unit at a hospital.

Peterson says it is a benefit to be at the Knox County Health Department since it began because she has seen the great leadership provided by Chance, and she says she hopes she can do half as well as he did.
