Murder Trial Resumes in Knox County Court
The trial against a Galesburg man accused of multiple felonies resumed Monday morning in Knox County Court.

The prosecution began again with witness testimony this morning after the trial was in recess since the middle of last week. 32 year old Marlon Brown stands accused of murder after allegedly shooting and killing 29 Deriek Lawless outside of Andrews Lounge last august. They began the morning by calling Chris Jacobson, a forensic scientist with the Illinois State Police Crime Lab in Morton. He testified he was able to extract latent fingerprints off an ammunition magazine that allegedly came from a semi automatic pistol used in the shooting. He said the fingerprints compared with Brown fingerprints had a match of Browns left middle finger.

Next, the prosecution called Major Lemon to the stand who was allegedly involved in an altercation that may have lead to the shooting of Lawless. Lemon testified he didn't know what provoked the alleged attack by Lawless on him, only telling the court Lawless using profanity calling Lemon many names. Lemon says he was on the ground with Lawless hitting him in the face when he heard a boom, and then and number of booms, believed to be gunshots fired by Brown into the head and body of Lawless.

The court will hear from a firearm identification expert from the Illinois State Police Crime Lab later Monday.

Brown is being charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
