Former Hill Correctional Center Inmate's Parole Very Brief
A man who served time as recently as last week at Hill Correctional Center is behind bars again after an incident in Galesburg.

31-year old Vincent Teruel was scheduled for parole last Friday after a 2007 conviction in Kane County for aiding/abetting, possession and sale of a stolen vehicle. He was sentenced to four years on the charge after a three year sentence on a similar charge in Cook County in 2005.

Illinois Department of Corrections spokesman Derek Schnapp says corrections staff from Hill transported Teruel and some other inmates to the bus station in Galesburg on Friday when they learned Teruel was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Teruel fled as he was about to be taken back into custody, and Schnapp says he was apprehended early Saturday morning in the Chicago area and remains in custody.

Schnapp says it's common for prison staff to drop the former prisoners off at a bus stop or train station if no family members or friends come to pick them up. Schnapp declined to go into specifics about the outstanding warrant, but said the entire incident involving Teruel is being investigated.

Teruel's criminal record dates back to 1999, when he was sent to prison for possession of a controlled substance in Cook County.
