Gas Prices up in Illinois
The price of gasoline in Illinois is up slightly.

The Triple-A Chicago Motor Club puts the statewide average for March at $2.01, up nine cents from February. Triple-A spokesman Nicole Niemi says gasoline prices will rise a little more in the coming months, as vacation driving increases and metropolitan areas switch to the summer fuel blends.

The price one year ago was $3.26. Niemi says unless something unexpected happens in terms of supply, the price this year is not projected to reach that level, let alone the $4 prices of last summer. She says when the price exceeded $4 last year, demand dropped, and due to other harsh economic conditions, it hasn't recovered.
