City Council Candidates Debate Monday Night on WGIL
The candidates for Galesburg City Council all square off Monday night.

WGIL, the Register-Mail, and The Zephyr are all hosting a debate featuring the candidates for the three aldermanic races being contested on April 7th.

Fourth Ward Alderman Lomac Payton is seeking another term on the council, but he faces two candidates -- former alderman Tony Gerk, and resident Corinne Anderson.

In the city's second ward, incumbent Bill Kendall has opposition in local insurance agent Wayne Dennis.

And in Ward 6, incumbent Wayne Allen faces newcomer and local news reporter Joni McGarry.

Each race will have a share of the 90-minutes the debate is scheduled for Monday night, moderated by Register-Mail editor Tom Martin and Zephyr editor Norm Winick.

The debate starts at 7:00 inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall. You can hear the debate live on WGIL, or online at www.wgil.com by clicking on the "Special Events Live Audio" link on the left side of the homepage.

The nine candidates for Galesburg have two debates this week -- one Tuesday night at "The Center" on Cherry Street, and one at Knox College on Wednesday.
