Galesburg Holds First "Community Visioning" Session Thursday -- LIVE COVERAGE ON WGIL
The first of a six-week series of meetings will be held Thursday where residents and community leaders alike are being asked to help at least spur discussion about the City of Galesburg's future.

The City is hosting what is called a "Community Visioning Assembly" at 6pm Thursday at Carl Sandburg College's Donald Crist Student Center in building B. The sessions are being crafted by City Manager Dane Bragg following a perceived lack of results by the City Council in coming up with an economic development policy, now that its contract with the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association terminates in less than two weeks.

Bragg says the session Thursday deals with image, and how the city can be perceived. "The first session will be dubbed 'The Image We Project'," Bragg said. "We will be talking about leadership development, regional partnerships, community attitude, and how we market ourselves to the outside world."

The first session is expected to include panelists representing Leadership Greater Galesburg, the Quad Cities Regional Economic Development Authority, The Central Illinois Economic Development Council, Knox College, and the Register-Mail.

After a panel discussion, Bragg says there will be a time for question and answers from members of the public.

The meeting, again, starts at 6pm Thursday at CSC's Building B. You can also hear the first 90 minutes of the session live on WGIL and WGIL.com, until we will need to join Fighting Illini Basketball.
