Castillo Withdraws Lt. Gov. Application
CHICAGO (AP) -- A former Democratic candidate for Illinois lieutenant governor has withdrawn his application for the post.

Thomas Castillo told supporters in a letter Friday he's ending his campaign. Castillo was one of five candidates who lost the Democratic primary to Scott Lee Cohen.

Cohen left the race after it became widely known he was accused of abusing his ex-wife and arrested for holding a knife to the throat of an ex-girlfriend. Cohen has denied the allegations.

The Democratic Party is accepting applications from people who want to replace Cohen on the November ballot. More than 200 applications have been submitted.

Castillo says he's throwing his support to former comptroller candidate Raja Krishnamoorthi.

Democratic state central committee will vote for a nominee on March 27.
