Next "Reading @ the Crossroads" Presentation Tuesday
Newbery Medal winning author, Avi, will be presenting to students and staff at Churchill Junior High School on Tuesday, March 16th. That evening, he will be speaking at the Orpheum Theater, free of charge, to anyone who would like to attend.

Doors will open at 6:30 followed by a powerpoint presentation by Reading at the Crossroads. Several students will perform Avi's work in a Reader's Theater beginning at 7:00 pm. Avi will be introduced and begin his presentation at 7:25. There will be a chance to purchase his books as well as have the book autographed by Avi. On Wednesday, March 17th, Avi will present to the students and staff at Lombard Junior High School.

Avi grew up in Brooklyn with a twin sister, Emily. He began writing plays and then ventured into writing young adult novels. His first book was published in 1970 and he has published over 60 books since then. Two of his Newbery Medal winning books are Nothing but the Truth and Crispin: Cross of Lead. He has written many historical fiction books as well.
