Feds Want No Delay in Blagojevich Corruption Trial
CHICAGO (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich's request for a five-month delay in the start of his corruption trial should be turned down.

The prosecutors say Blagojevich has repeatedly and publicly challenged the racketeering charges against him, intensifying interest in the outcome of his case.

In a nine-page brief filed with federal Judge James Zagel, the government says the current June 3 trial date shouldn't be changed.

The dispute is guaranteed to come up at a hearing in the case set for Wednesday.

Blagojevich is charged with scheming to sell or trade President Obama's former Senate seat and various fundraising offenses. He's denied any wrongdoing, and his attorneys are asking for a Nov. 3 start to the trial.
