Beloved Hobby Shop Owner Ray Johansen Dies
UPDATED 9:49 a-m 3/16/10 A man who enjoyed the hobby industry and ran a very popular Galesburg business for many years passed away this week.

Ray Johansen owned and operated Ray's Hobby Shop for 32 years. He died Monday morning in Galesburg at the age of 88.

Johansen was loved by his customers at Ray's Hobby Shop, which sold many types of toys and other items. He also worked at the Depot Hobby Shop and Duff Hardware.

Johansen also served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was stationed in the Caribbean as a Sergeant in the military police.

Johansen is survived by his wife, two children and two grandchildren. His funeral service is Friday at 10 a-m at Grace Anglican Church in Galesburg.
