Rock Island Man Sentenced in Burglary Case
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) -- A judge has sentenced a Rock Island man to seven years in prison on a charge stemming from a series of burglaries that took place while the victims were attending funerals.

Rock Island County Circuit Court Judge Michael Meersman handed down the sentence Monday against 41-year-old Glen Squires, who pleaded guilty in January to attempted residential burglary. A charge of residential burglary was dropped as part of the plea deal.

Police say Squires and his 66-year-old mother, Judith Squires, were behind a series of house burglaries last year in Moline, East Moline and Rock Island.

Judith Squires pleaded guilty in January to one count of criminal damage to property. She was sentenced to 24 months of probation and court costs.
