Quinn Says His Opinion Matters Most in Running Mate Selection
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says he will have the "primary voice" in picking a running mate.

The Democratic incumbent says he respects the party's process for picking a nominee for lieutenant governor. But Quinn says the Democratic State Central Committee understands the choice has to be someone he can work with.

Quinn would not say yesterday whom he prefers.

The committee meets Saturday in five locations to interview more than 200 candidates for the post. The committee will choose March 27th.

A vacancy on the ticket occurred when Scott Lee Cohen stepped down.

Cohen spent millions of dollars winning the Feb. 2nd primary. But he resigned under pressure because of allegations of past domestic violence and steroids use. The domestic violence charge was dismissed.
