Revolving Loan Approved for New Seminary Street Business
The Galesburg City Council has added another revolving loan to its portfolio, which in turn will add yet another new business to historic Seminary Street.

Aldermen Monday night approved a $30,000 revolving loan to Nick and Tracy Pigg, who plan on opening up a store called "Go Outside and Play" at 57 South Seminary Street, next to Stone Alley Books and Collectibles.

Nick Pigg says the store will deal primary with running, biking, and outdoor apparel along with related items -- the sort of thing he believes you can't find around here.

"There's a lot of people who do these activities in Galesburg and (have) no place to buy the products," Pigg said. "This will be a step in reducing the trade gap that Galesburg currently has. It's going to be keeping more of the money here in town. The people are going to buy the product somewhere. It's not their fault that there's nowhere to get it here in town."

Pigg says he hasn't lived in Galesburg for a long time, but he and his wife already love it here, and want to be here awhile.

He says he is shooting for opening "Go Outside and Play April 15th.

The Piggs are expected to receive a $10,000 Business Innovation Grant to help them open the store, along with nearly $20,000 in bank loans, and $6,600 in private funds.
