Henry County Democratic Party Chairman Resigns; Arrested on Drug Charges
CAMBRIDGE, Ill. (AP)-- For the second time this month, leaders of the Henry County Democratic Party are meeting to elect a new county party chairman.

The meeting Saturday is to find a successor to 33-year old Kyle Allen Sproston of Geneseo, who was elected to the post March 3.

Sproston resigned this week after he was arrested on marijuana charges.

Geneseo Police who raided Sproston's home last weekend (March 14) said he was growing between 20 and 50 cannabis plants.

Authorities have charged Sproston with unlawful production of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the life of a child, and unlawful possession of a firearm without a valid firearm identification card.

Sproston is free on $50,000 bond.
