Concert on the Lawn Kicks Off 25th Annual Fund Drive
The Concert on the Lawn Committee (COL), a not-for-profit organization, recently kicked-off its fund drive campaign for this year's 25th annual "Concert on the Lawn."

On Saturday, June 5, this FREE outdoor family concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the south side of Old Main at Knox College (if inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Knox College T. Fleming Fieldhouse). Both direct mail and public service announcements will be used in an effort to significantly expand the number of individual and business contributors as well as patrons to help underwrite this popular family concert which costs nearly $10,000 to stage. Last year's event was attended by patrons from 36 communities in 5 states.

This year’s musical event will again feature the award-winning Knox-Galesburg Symphony (KGS), under the direction of maestro Bruce Polay. The program will feature violin soloist Rachel Stenzel, a 2010 Midwest Young Artist Junior Division Competition Winner, performing Stamitz’s Violin Concerto in D Major. The KGS will also perform popular and classical favorites including music form Michael Jackson's "Thriller," a James Bond Medley, Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever," Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," and many more favorite selections submitted by previous "Concert on the Lawn" audiences.

The Concert on the Lawn Committee hopes the generous support of Knox College, Wells Fargo Bank and Azer Rehab Systems, P.C. will continue to encourage individual and business contributions to ensure that the COL Committee continues to provide this free musical family event. Anyone wishing to join Wells Fargo Bank and Azer Rehab Systems as a co-sponsor should call (309) 341-7268.

Those who express their financial support with a tax-deductible donation will be recognized in the COL program. Music suggestions and donations should be sent to Concert on the Lawn, Inc., Knox College Box K-195, 2 East South Street, Galesburg, IL 61401. Donations will be accepted after April 30 but may not appear in the program due to printing deadlines.
