Orpheum Events to Be Broadcast on CSC-TV
An agreement that essentially started with Carl Sandburg College giving money to the Orpheum Theatre's capital campaign is expanding, and it should essentially benefit anyone with cable television service in Galesburg, East Galesburg, and Knoxville.

Theatre president Kate Francis says the college will soon begin recording some of the theatre's performances, for broadcast on CSC Cable TV Channel 22, that reaches Knox County Comcast subscribers.

Francis tells WGIL the tapings will start in April with a performance by Knox-Galesburg Symphony conductor Bruce Polay and an interactive show of sorts he does called "Bruce and Old Friends."

"Bruce performs on stage, and audience members actually get to sit on stage with Bruce as he plays the piano and talks about the pieces that he's doing," Francis said. "Carl Sandburg College is going to send some audio and visual technicians to come and film the event, and then it is going to be broadcast on CSC-TV."

Francis says a date for the broadcast of that event hasn't been determined. But she says CSC-TV will record various performances and lectures at the theatre, abiding by copyright laws whenever necessary.

Francis says she hopes it will be a way to simply promote the theatre and get more people to attend performances there, and doesn't think it will at all hamper ticket sales.
