House Bill Would Ban Impeached Governors from Getting Pensions
It seems talking about ethics -- after Rod Blagojevich was kicked out of the governor's office -- will never go out of fashion. The Illinois House has passed a bill to disqualify future executive officers from state pension benefits if they are impeached and removed from office.

It has happened only once -- to Blagojevich. State Rep. Keith Farnham (D-Elgin) is the sponsor, and State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan (R-Des Plaines) accused him, as a freshman facing re-election, of trying to gain cheap political points. She voted for the bill anyway, as did all representatives except for State Rep. Deborah Mell (D-Chicago), Blagojevich's sister-in-law, who said afterward the bill was just a political ploy.

H.B. 5818 has passed the House, 111-1.
