State Lawmakers Still Have Questions About Health Care Bill
Now that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the health care makeover, let's find out what's in the bill. That's not a joke to members of the Illinois House. State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale), chairman of the House Medicaid Reform, Family and Children Services Committee, urged controlling Democrats to convene the House into a "committee of the whole" and have experts present the best information available about the impact on Illinois.

Bellock said Monday that lawmakers have been getting calls all day from employers wanting to know what to expect. Not only do they not know, State Rep. Bill Black (R-Danville) says nobody even knows when changes will take effect. He did not suggest Illinois join the chorus, but he did point out several states are looking into lawsuits over the bill.

House leaders told Bellock they would think about her idea.
