Principal Gets Another Chance at Unseating Incumbent
The principal at a Galesburg elementary school will get another chance at trying to unseat a former Galesburg School District teacher for the county's top education job.

The Knox County Republican Party says a special caucus Tuesday nominated Nielson Elementary School principal Matt LeClere to run against democrat Bonnie Harris in the November general election.

LeClere ran against Harris four-years ago, and lost by four-thousand votes to Harris in the region that covers all of Knox County and small portions of Henry, Warren, and Peoria Counties.

Harris defeated former colleague Gay Johnson in the February primary to go on to the November election.

The GOP also says Ted Guenseth of Galesburg was selected to be the party's nominee for a seat on the Knox County Board from District Three. Pamela Davidson is filling the vacancy left when democrat Jan Occhi resigned. That seat, and one held by Tim Hasten are both up for election in November.

In a statement, Knox County Republican Party Chairman Marc Young says the party will work toward making sure both LeClere and Guenseth are elected.
