Calls Continue for Forensic Audit of State Government
He's not stopping! Adam Andrzejewski, who lost in the Republican primary for governor, is teaming up with several Illinois House Republican members in asking for a forensic audit of state government. That was something he pushed during his campaign.

A House resolution has been filed to authorize such an audit, which would be completed in 12 months, in time for the following year's budget talks. House Minority Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) supports the resolution, saying the audit would be "one more tool in the toolbox" to help lawmakers sort out the budget debacle. State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) says there are a lot of bills before lawmakers this spring, but this resolution is the most important.

Andrzejewski claims that an analysis indicates such an audit will likely find about 5 percent waste, or a little more than $1 billion. He couldn't answer questions about where that waste might be. He also didn't answer questions about whether such a monumental audit would delay the state auditor general's regular audit schedule, saying only that the forensic audit should be the priority. The resolution needs approval from only the House.
