Knox County Circuit Clerk Hosts "Passport Day" Saturday -- LINK AVAILABLE HERE
The Knox County Circuit Clerk says she's trying to put her focus on a service her office provides that she admits people may not know about.

Kelly Cheesman says she's opening up the Knox County Courthouse from 8am to Noon Saturday for a "Passport Day." She says anyone who needs to apply for a passport or make changes to their, can do so at a time when hopefully people aren't working.

Cheesman tells WGIL you can even apply before you head to the courthouse, as long as you remember a few other things first.

"They can go to travel.state.gov (linked below) and fill out the application if they'd like to, online, and print it out and bring it to our office. They cannot sign it until they're in front of us," Cheesman said. "Or, they can come here and get the application and fill it out. They need to bring a photo i.d. such as a drivers license, and a certified copy of their birth certificate, and a passport photo."

Cheesman says her office does not take passport photos, so you'll need to go to a business that will take such photos to have one done before you come to the Passport Day. She does say she will hold your paperwork for you if you fail to provide a passport photo.

The cost of a passport application is $100 -- $25 of which, Cheesman says, goes to Knox County.

The "Passport Day" is open to all residents regardless of where they live.
