Monmouth Man Hurt in Hit and Run; Police Searching for Vehicle Involved
POSTED 6:35 a-m, updated 7:05 a-m 3/27/10 A hit and run in Warren County sent a man to a Peoria hospital for treatment while police are searching for a truck they believe is involved.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards says the incident happened around 7:00 Friday night on 180th Avenue, also known as the Cameron Blacktop, between 90th and 100th Streets.

Edwards says 52-year old Douglas Ray of Monmouth was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Ray was taken by paramedics to OSF St. Mary Medical Center before being airlifted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Ray's condition was unknown late Friday night. Edwards says authorities hope to interview Ray Saturday, pending his condition.

Warren County deputies collected evidence from the scene and are looking for a later model Ford truck or heavy duty Ford vehicle that's missing the passenger side mirror and mirror trim. Officials say the vehicle also has damage to the head light/turn assembly.

Edwards says both local and state police agencies have been notified about the incident and are assisting in the search for the vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to call the Warren County Sheriff's office at 734-8505 or Crimestoppers at 734-9363.
