Churches Mark Palm Sunday As Abuse Scandal Unfolds
CHICAGO (AP) -- As the Vatican struggles to deal with allegations of clergy sex abuse spreading across Europe, Catholic parishioners in the United States are looking on.

The Vatican and Pope Benedict XVI have come under growing criticism about the handling of abuse cases.

The scandal is unfolding even as churches prepare for the Holy Week leading up to Easter.

In Chicago, Cardinal Francis George is scheduled to celebrate Mass on Palm Sunday at downtown's Holy Name Cathedral.

It isn't clear whether he and other religious leaders in the United States will mention the ongoing controversy.

Some abuse cases have raised questions about whether Benedict did enough to root out pedophile priests under his watch before he became pope.
