Madigan Questions "Seal" On Recalled Baby Cribs
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is urging a manufacturers association to drop its seal of approval from drop-side cribs.

Madigan has sent a letter to the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association urging them to take "immediate and substantial action to address the hazards associated with drop-side cribs."

Madigan says many of the 7 million cribs recalled since 2007 bore the JPMA seal, which reads that the product had been tested. Madigan says JPMA has the responsibility to remove the cribs from the marketplace.

The Illinois Children's Product Safety Act deems all drop-side cribs unsafe.

Madigan is also asking the association to provide a purchase incentive for those who have drop-side cribs so that they can purchase a safe crib.
