Galesburg Police Officer Under Investigation -- SEND WGIL YOUR NEWS TIPS
A Galesburg Police officer is believed to be off the job, but officials are so far being tight-lipped as to why.

Multiple sources have told WGIL that an officer has been put on paid administrative leave. Police Captain Lindsey May would only confirm that an investigation is going on, but told WGIL any further information would need to be obtained by filing a Freedom of Information Act request by recommendation of the City's Attorney.

WGIL News has filed such a request, and when more details are released, we'll let you know.

Changes enacted to the FOIA this year require those who receive such requests to respond to them within five business days. The law previously required a maximum seven-day turnaround.
