|The Orpheum Theatre announces its annual line-up for the 2010 Red Carpet Series. Now in its fifth year, the Orpheum Theatre's Red Carpet Series is known for bringing nationally- and internationally-recognized talent to one the finest historic theaters in the West-Central Illinois region. THE SPENCERS: THEATRE OF ILLUSION. Kevin and Cindy Spencer are masters of magical theater incorporating spectacle, drama, danger and personality into their award-winning show. The Spencers have been named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year for six consecutive years and most recently were named by their peers as International Magicians of the Year; an award presented to the likes of Doug Henning, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller and Criss Angel. The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion comes to the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, April 11 for a 2 pm family-friendly matinee. Adult tickets start at $15 and children 12 and under are 50% off. SURVIVOR. Best-known for their double-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Oscar-nominated, Peoples' Choice mega hit, Eye of the Tiger, Survivor takes the Orpheum Theatre stage on Saturday, June 19 at 8:00 pm. Other chart-topping hits by this super rock band of the '80s include The Search is Over, High on You, Can't Hold Back and Is This Love. Tickets start at $30. 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. The Orpheum Theatre brings Broadway back to Kellogg Street with this charming, Tony Award-winning musical. The LA Times described 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as "a surprisingly poignant laugh-fest" that pokes fun at the pressures and over-the-top expectations these hormonal, 'tweener spellers feel, but that adult audiences realize never go away, even in the "real world." Locally directed and co-produced by Kurt Killam, the show will feature a mix of regional and national acting and vocal talent. Three show dates are offered: Friday, August 20 and Saturday August 21 at 7:30 pm and Sunday August 22 at 2 pm. THE WORLD-FAMOUS GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA. They're back! The Glenn Miller Orchestra last appeared at the Orpheum Theatre in August 2006 for a sold out show. Get your tickets now to ensure a good seat as they're sure to sell-out again! Not long before Glenn Miller's plane crashed in the English Channel, the popular bandleader had nosed-out Tommy Dorsey as the "Best Sweet Band" in the Downbeat poll. Miller's recordings of In The Mood, Chattanooga Choo Choo, A String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade and Tuxedo Junction were all major hit records. The Miller Estate formed the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956 which has toured constantly since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year. The Orpheum Theatre is pleased to conclude the 2010 Red Carpet Series with this iconic big band on Sunday, October 3 at 4 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
